Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What is an Enrolled Agent?

An Enrolled Agent (EA) is a federally licensed tax practitioner who has technical expertise in the field of taxation and is empowered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers for audits, collections and appeals before all administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service.  Enrolled Agent status is the highest credential the IRS awards.  Individuals who obtain this elite status must adhere to ethical standards and complete 72 hours of continuing education courses every three years.

2. Who actually prepares my return?

Unlike seasonal tax preparation firms, all accounting services are performed by David Lynch, an Enrolled Agent with the IRS.  David is available year round for all your tax needs.

3. Do I need to come to your office or can I mail you my tax documents?

If you are a new client, it is advisable that you make an appointment.  We take pride in knowing our clients.  Once established as a client, you can decide each year if you would like to have an appointment, drop off your tax documents or mail your tax documents to us.  We suggest mailing your tax documents with a tracking option (Certified Mail or FedEx) so you can verify that we have received your package.  We do require your payment at the time of service, which can be taken right out of your federal tax refund (fee collect), check or credit card.

4. Does my spouse need to come to the appointment?

No, however, his/her signature will need to be provided on certain forms (Client Tax Organizer and E-File/Fee Collect Authorization Form) before the returns can be filed.  This can also be done by email, scan or fax.

5. What do I need to bring to my appointment?

You will need a completed copy of the Tax Organizer and E-File/Fee Collect Authorization Form listed under the Tax Forms tab.  You will also need any statements of income, interest paid, interest earned, deductions, miles traveled and expenses for business and anything else you think you might need for your tax situation.  New Clients:  Please bring a copy of prior years (up to three years) tax returns.

6. How much do you charge?

Most individual tax returns are $245, which includes Federal and State preparation.  All tax returns are electronically filed.  Your fee can be taken right out of your Federal tax return if you are receiving a refund for no additional charge.  If your individual tax return requires more schedules and/or is more complicated the fee will increase.  Business and Partnership returns start at $395/year and depend upon the complexity of the return.  A quote for your individual/business/partnership return is available upon request and after review.

7. What forms of payment do you accept?

For convenience, we provide a fee collect service, which takes our fee right out of your Federal tax refund.  We cannot take our fee out if you are not getting a Federal refund.  We also accept personal checks, cash and credit cards for all services.

8. What is Fee Collect?

Fee Collect is when your tax preparation fee is taken directly out of your Federal Tax Refund (not your bank account) instead of you sending a payment for the service.  It is convenient and the tax preparation fee is not taken directly out of your pocket, rather is taken out of your Federal tax refund.  If you are not getting a refund from the IRS, you can not use the Fee Collect option.

9.  Will I get a copy of my return?

Yes, a copy of your signed prepared tax return can be picked up at our office upon completion or your tax return will be sent certified mail, signature required to your home.  Your package will also include all the documents you provided us to prepare your return (your W2’s, mortgage statements, etc.).  It is advised that you keep a copy of your return for at least 3 years.  Additional copies as well as a PDF digital copy of your Tax Return can be provided for a minimal fee.

10. Do you accept referrals?

Yes, we accept and appreciate all referrals!  We do not advertise as we prefer to provide services to people who are recommended.
